About the exhibition
These watercolour paintings follow the trails along the Yarra River and the Merri Creek—spaces in which I commute, exercise and get lost in—a green wonderland within Melbourne’s urban north.
I planned for this exhibition to celebrate Autumn in lockdown: it became a four season show.
Finding private, tranquil, natural space within the public realm became important for more people in lockdown.
Finding privacy in shared space channels the sense of a community collectively soothing the stress of a turbulent year with the help of back-lit leaves, a summer breeze, a winter sunrise: a shared path.
Tangled Backlit Leaves (Early Morning, Summer)
Deep Rock Waterhole (Mid afternoon, Summer)
A Creek Bend #2 (Mid morning, Early Summer)
A Shared Path (Late afternoon, Autumn)
Behind the Velodrome (Sundown, Autumn)
